Delaware State defeated Morgan State on Saturday for the first time since March 9, 2007, when they did so in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament.

Trevor Welcher had been the only player on the team who remembered what it felt like to defeat two-time defending MEAC champion.

"I haven't beaten Morgan State since my freshman year," said Welcher, a senior guard who scored 11 points. "This is a really, really big win. Coach [Greg] Jackson tells us every day that games like these are like a chess match. You've just got to take your time and play defense."
